About the Author Jennifer Leonard

Jennifer grew up in Northeast Ohio on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie. Her passion for environmentalism began in Geneva State Park, spending summers and weekends there. From the old cedar cabins, to the additions of the Marina and The Lodge, her love for nature began at “Ohio’s First Summer Resort”.

A writer her entire life, she captured many of her memories both in poetry and short stories, which she keeps to this day as a diary format.

“Manatee of the Sea” is her first children’s book. Carol Ray Leonard, author’s Mother, is the illustrator. David Rich, author’s son, designed and formatted the publication. This is first in her series of sea life stories and lessons

Jennifer was inspired by many people, and many beautiful creatures in nature, to write this series on kindness. Her late Father, William “Red” Leonard, long ago adopted her a Manatee named “Lucille” through Save the Manatee Club, and Jennifer’s passion for the sea was born.
